About Windsor Medical

WINDSOR MEDICAL PRACTICE

We are a small, friendly practice dedicated to providing personalised General Practitioner care tailored to your health needs.

Established in the late 1940s at Windsor Crescent, we are now based at the Lido Medical Centre.

Our current location offers excellent parking and convenient access to a range of complementary services, including a pharmacy, chiropractor, and physiotherapist. We have a strong understanding of local services and maintain close links with our secondary care colleagues.

Being a small practice is one of our greatest strengths. It means you avoid seeing a different GP at every visit and don’t have to repeat your medical history each time. Over time, we get to know you and your family, which we believe is the foundation of exceptional general practice.

WINDSOR MEDICAL CBPM

Windsor Medical CBPM is the only local GP surgery where patients can be assessed to receive treatment directly with their doctor. We are an independent GP practice and our doctors are experts in the field of medicinal cannabis and can provide an assessment to see if you may be eligible for a medicinal cannabis treatment.

THE team

Dr Maria (Chus) Tome GP

Dr. Maria is a passionate and dedicated GP, originally from Spain, who graduated from the prestigious University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid – where renowned writer Miguel de Cervantes wrote his famous Don Quijote. Inspired by Cervantes’ own adventures, Dr. Maria embarked on her own journey, first practicing in Madrid and moving to the UK before finding her home on the beautiful island of Jersey in 2020, just before the Covid-19 lockdown.

Her experience spans across diverse areas of medicine. Before moving to Jersey, Dr. Maria works in the NHS as a GP for 20 years (2 decades) along with being a medico-legal expert in personal injuries since 2008. Once on the island, she quickly immersed herself in the healthcare system, as a GP and played a pivotal role during the Covid pandemic. Dr Maria served as the Clinical GP Lead for the Fort Regent Vaccination Programme, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of vaccines to the local community. Following the completion of the vaccination programme, she returned to her passion for general practice.

Dr. Maria has a particular interest in mental health, women’s health, and rheumatology, making her an invaluable asset to the healthcare community. She is also deeply committed to supporting the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking communities, offering a bilingual approach to care that fosters trust and understanding.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Maria is a true lover of nature. She enjoys exploring Jersey’s stunning outdoors, with a particular fondness for walking and discovering the island’s natural beauty.

Dr. Maria’s dedication to her patients, her diverse expertise, and her deep appreciation for the island make her a well-respected and beloved member of the healthcare community in Jersey.

Dr Andrew Peel

Dr Peel brings decades of experience to Windsor. His previous experience in the UK had been focused on helping GP practices improve their performance from the perspective of the patient experience and in relation to their CQC scoring.

The opportunity to work at Windsor Medical arose at an ideal time as his children had grown up and so a move to Jersey was on!

Windsor Medical has provided the perfect environment to deliver the very best primary care in a refreshing and caring practice. His interests in mens’ health, mental health, and care of the elderly align perfectly with the practice’s goals.

He is keen to assist patients by supporting them in a variety of situations needing attention to detail whether this relates to medication reviews or in writing on behalf of a patient to a third party or organisation.

Outside of work, he can be found wandering on Jersey’s beautiful coastal paths or following any local rugby team.

DR MARK WILBOURN

Mark trained at the University of Southampton. He undertook Basic Surgical Training in Rotherham and Sheffield. He subsequently spent four years training in ENT and Maxillofacial Surgery before deciding that only General Practice offered the breadth of practice that he was suited to. He therefore opted to train as a GP in the Wessex region.

After his medical degree, Mark has undertaken the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England diploma, the Diploma in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health and Epidemiology, the Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, the Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners and has some diplomas in nutrition. He has been awarded the Royal College of General Practitioners Fellowship, their highest award.

Mark moved to Jersey in 2010 and has worked in Rosewood House, Sandybrook Nursing Home, Island Medical Centre and the Primary Care Governance Team.

Mark currently works part time 5 days per week for Windsor Medical Practice and alternate Saturday mornings. He is also a GP appraiser and former Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor. He is a Trustee of The Oxygen Centre, MSNT trustee and a qualified Barochamber operator.
